John Proctor was one of the main characters in the book The Crucible by Arthur Miller. In 1666 John Proctor moved to Salem where he became a farmer. Proctor was stuck in a predicament because while Abigail Williams was living with his family he had an affair with her and now she has fallen in love with him and will do anything possible to get Mary Proctor out of the picture.
Proctor was not into the whole witchcraft scene and accused Abigail and all the other girls of lying. When Proctors wife was accused he stood with her through the entire thing and defended her innocence. Throughout this situation, Proctor himself was declared a witch and was the first man to be accused. Since both John and Mary Proctor were accused of being witches, all of their children were also accused. Proctor was tried on August 5th and was hanged on the 9th.

I know that this site is a good one because it was made by a college professor. Also, the site is all about John Proctor and how he acted in the salem witch trials, which is all the information I needed. The site talked about how he was accused and that is something we didn’t learn in the book so overall, the website would be a better source to find information on then the book.
